Summary
A walnut armchair, British, of early 18th century style, the upright padded back flanked on each side by upright armrests with extensions of the armrests to the front, and a padded overstuffed seat, upholstered in later pink floral silk damask with gold trim, with cabriole front legs carved with flower motifs, the sides/hips of the front legs carved as c-scrolls, the legs terminating in pad feet, with splayed and tapering rear legs.
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009) 1976, then accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013.
