Summary
A walnut veneered centre table, possibly Irish, early 20th century, of George II style, the rectangular top above a cavetto moulded frieze, the straight edge apron with cross-grain moulding, on four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, the legs carved with shells at the knees. A small round white label applied to the frieze just below the table rim, reading 'LADY MAIRI BURY'. Another small rectangular label with canted corners and blue border applied to the underside, with faded handwriting (indecipherable).
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009), 1976, then accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013.
Marks and inscriptions
