One of twelve plates, part of a Paris porcelain partial ornithological dessert service, the centres painted with various exotic birds, with insolid green band and gilt borders. Inscribed in gold ‘Rousseau, rue Coquillière, 43’ for the retailer Eugene Rousseau, rue Coquillière, Paris, France, c. 1845-50
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust from Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009), 1976, then accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, 2013
