Summary
Triptych of woodblock prints on paper, Women Playing Music on a Boat, by Chōkōsai Eishō (Edo 1790s), depicting a boat with five women (possibly courtesans) playing a range of musical instruments, with three more women on the shoreline.
Provenance
Likely purchased by the Beale family in Japan during their world tour, 1907. An invoice from Mizoroki & Co. lists an 'old coloured print by Eisho' which likely relates to this print. The print cost the Beales 135,000 yen.
