Triptych of woodblock prints on paper, Woman on a boat imitating the Seven Gods of Good Fortune, by Utagawa Toyokuni I (Edo 1769 - Edo 1825), depicting a boat with seven sumptuously dressed courtesans, with Mt Fuji behind and the sun rising at left.
Provenance
Likely purchased by the Beale family in Japan during their world tour, 1907. An invoice from Mizoroki & Co. lists an 'old coloured print by Toyokuni' which likely relates to this print. The print cost the Beales 20,000 yen.
