Summary
An oak billiard table, by Cox & Yeman, circa 1890. With green baize surface and six knotted-string pockets, the upper frieze rails applied with roundels, the lower recessed frieze panelled, standing on eight large reeded legs, with ivorine label COX & YEMAN, London, re-covered in 1963 by Burroughes & Watts Ltd.
Full description
Henry Cox and Edward Yeman began their partnership in 1851 and were based in the Brompton Road, London. By 1870, they were classed as one of the big three firms making billiard tables and accessories (Burroughes & Watts and Thurston being the other two). In 1911 they were taken over by Burroughes & Watts.
