Summary
Vase, buff coloured stoneware, standing on high, narrow pedestal foot, bulbous body, long slender neck and upright rim, two strap handles from the upper neck, attached at the shoulder, Royal Doulton, Lambeth, 1880; decorated by Eliza L. Hubert, the body with coloured glazes in brown and blue, a repeating pattern of scrolls made from applied white beads of enamel against a ground of blue glaze forming leaves, each scroll terminating in a sprigged flower, the same repeated on the upper shoulder against a pale buff ground of leaves, the handles ribbed and with turned bands to the top and bottom of the neck.
Full description
Eliza L. Hubert was an artist in the Doulton Ware department at Doulton & Co's Lambeth Art Studio between c. 1876-84. She decorated her own original designs and assisted fellow Doulton artist George Tinworth with fable groups and some models, including clock cases.
