Summary
Ceramic tile with Pre-Raphaelite painting of a Saint; a woman's head and shoulders, her hands holding a chain. Original to the house. In ‘William Morris Tiles’ by Richard and Hilary Myers (1998) the tile is listed as ‘A Female Saint’: probably designed by Dante Gabriel Rossetti before 1863. This single tile, from a panel of at least nine, was found at the Merton Abbey works after Morris & Company ceased trading.
