Summary
Wood, Shòu, probably Chinese School, probably 20th century. A carved wood group depicting Shòu, one of the three Sanxing gods in Chinese culture. Shòu, the god of longevity, is represented as an elderly man, standing and holding peaches, an auspicious fruit representing longevity. A recumbent deer, also a symbol of longevity, sits at the god's feet. On a wooden openwork stand carved in the form of rocks (NT 121232.2). On a wooden openwork stand carved in the form of rocks.
