Summary
Rosewood veneered octagonal games box, the lid with a central geometric roundel of radiating painted segments in various woods on an ebonised ground, and four similar geometric quarter segments in the outer corners; the edge of the lid is decorated in simple mosaic patterns. The sides of the body are covered all round in Vandyke borders of various timbers on an ebonised ground. Inside, the box is fitted with four rectangular compartments for packs of palying cards and others for counters, etc. ; the whole interior is lined with bright pink paper. The interior compartments are now filled with a collection of exotic shells on green foam pads. There is a central keyhole and lock; the recessed base is covered in pink paper; no feet.
