Summary
American mantel clock c1870 by Seth Thomas, Connecticut. The movement is of typical American construction, with rectangular stamped plates, internal-countwheel hour striking on a steel gong, inverted strip-pallet anchor recoil escapement mounted on the front plate, and open springs. White painted dial with black Roman hour numerals and blued steel hands. Arched black japanned case with gilt decoration and mother-of-pearl inlay.
