Summary
Framed rectangular porcelain plaque, painted in oils with a picture of the imprisoned Archbishop Laud blessing the Earl of Strafford, who is on his way to execution in 1641; the Archbishop’s arms are extended through the prison bars, while the kneeling Earl is attended by soldiers and weeping figures. Late 19th century, after an oil painting of 1835 by Paul Delaroche. Gilt frame 1195821.
