Summary
A walnut lamp standard, English, mid-20th century. Fitted for electricity. With a reeded and broadening upper shaft on a baluster and a lower ovoid knop. All on a dished circular base carved with stylized leaves and on three bun feet.
Provenance
Introduced to the property by Agatha Christie Mallowan (1890-1976) and listed in an inventory taken just before the house was requisitioned by the American Navy in 1942. Given to the National Trust by Mrs Rosalind Hicks (d. 2004), Anthony Hicks (d. 2005) and Mathew Prichard in 2006, and accepted in 2007.
