Summary
Livery waistcoat. Scarlet wool with raised nap. Hand machine sewn, shawl collar faced with lining, opening with 4 brass buttons (Firmin and Sons) decorated with the Herbert crest (coronet and wyvern) and buttonholes to points at front. Two pockets. Lined throughout with scarlet cotton (satin weave). Metal buckle (Paris - Solide) at the back. There is a pencilled name written on the lining, but it is illegiable, details indicate an earlier date than GMM.TC.47.
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust from John George Herbert, 8th Earl of Powis and the Powis Estate Trustees in June 2010.
