Summary
A mahogany billiard table, by Burroughes and Watts Ltd, Soho Square, London, circa 1910. The baize covered slate bed raised on eight massive turned legs. one edge of the table with an inset silvered score counter. With accessories and a green leather cover commissioned by the National Trust. Bearing a label 'Burroughes & Watts Ltd, Soho Square, London patent 'Eureka Groove' Extra low fast cushions.' and a Royal Warrant from Edward VII.
Provenance
Brought to Powis Castle from Walcot Hall in 1930. Part of the indigenous collection of Powis Castle accepted in part satisfaction of the Estate duty after the death of the Right Honourable George Charles, 4th Earl of Powis, on 9th November 1952. The contract of the 'Offer of Property in Satisfaction of Estate Duty under the National Land Fund Scheme' was completed on 21st March 1963. Conveyed to National Trust ownership in 1992.
