Sculpture, stone, Pillar inset with stone plaque for bust of the Emperor Caesar Augustus, Emperor of Rome (Octavian) (63 BC – 14 AD) One of Twelve stone pillars supporting the 'Caesars' (T.POW.SC.21.1-12) inset with marble plaques bearing the name of the caesar the plinth supports. Supports Augustus.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax, placed on long term loan to the National Trust, then gifted to National Trust on 26th March 1991.
