Summary
Bicorn hat - Footman's cocked bicorn hat, c1900. Livery associated with State Coach. Black wool 'beaver', (twill satin milled and raised nap). Fabric over card form trimmed with Silver gilt thread braid, silver gilt button with Clive coat of arms, black grosgrain ribbons, and silver gilt spirel wire tassels to braid ends. Lined with cream silk taffeta (plain weave) and cream leather band. Pencilled in lining 'Smith' (crossed out), Lachmire, Dunkley (crossed out).

Purchased by the National Trust from the John George Herbert, 8th Earl of Powis and Powis Estate Trustees in March 2001.
