Summary
Sculpture, Portland stone, Fountain; cyma recta moulded bowl with single astrangal, on bulbous baluster stem, shallowly gadrooned. On plain rising circular foot, standing on gritstone abacus. Pool with surround cyma reversa moulded outer face by George Hubbard and Sons. The Architects Journal for August 1st, 1935 describes the fountain 'The design of this fountain, in the gardens of Powis Castle, Welshpool, was based upon that of a fifteenth century Florentine example. The fountain is excecuted in Portland Stone and was designed by George Hubbard and Sons'.
Provenance
Amongst the sculpture and fixtures within the grounds of Powis Castle and Gardens and part of the original bequest of the property in 1952.
