Summary
Lead sculpture on stone plinth, A Peacock, with its tail-feathers fully fanned. Lead peacock on classical stone plinth; life size with raised head looking sinister with slightly opened wings, tail feathers fully fanned. Engraved inscription round the base 'Removed from Claremont AD1930. Erected at Powis Castle 1931'. Standing on a square stone base, cut plain panels. Listed building - Grade II - 'Peacock Statue to the southwest of Orangery Terrace in Powis Castle' (16787)
Provenance
Removed from Claremont in 1930 and erected at Powis Castle 1931; amongst the sculpture within the grounds of Powis Castle and Gardens and part of the original bequest of the property in 1952.
