Summary
Marble sculpture, The Rt Hon. Spencer Perceval (1762-1812) by Joseph Nollekens, RA (London 1737 – London 1823), 1813/16. A portrait bust of the Prime Minister from 1809-10 who was assassinated by a madman in the lobby of the House of Commons. The prime original was made in 1813 for Apsley House, the London home of the Duke of Wellington.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
