Summary
Rosary originally reputed to have belonged to Mary, Queen of Scots, with carved wooden beads and crucifix. The figure of Christ is metal (possibly silver), the carved wooden beads are linked with metal wire. The provenance of this rosary is inaccurate on the reverse of the wooden cross is carved 'SOUVENIR DU MONT ST MICHEL', the connection of this item with Mary Queen of Scots is a family tradition. In William and Mary marquetry box (POW.F.55).
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
