Summary
The table section from a mahogany drinking table or 'hunt table', by Burrey & White, Shrewsby, circa 1810. The semi circular top with twin hinged leaves to the back. Raised on reeded and turned legs with brass cap castors. The table stenciled 'Burrey and White, Shrewsbury' the castors stamped 'Cope's Patent Strong'.
Full description
Little is known of Burrey & White, a few examples bearing their stamp are recorded; The Shrewsbury Museum Service collection has a Victorian Davenport Desk c.1840 by Burrey and White, made from satinwood with marquetry panels of flowers. Purchased with Grant Aid from M.G.C. and V&A Museum Purchase Grant Fund and Friends of Shrewsbury Borough Museum.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
