Summary
An embroidered cover or shawl cloth. Pashmina fabric base, a maroon ground embroidered all over with a repeating design of stylised flower-heads within borders of tilted cones, worked in metal thread on a core of thick yellow tusser silk. The ground appears to have self-fringed ends. Applied side borders of maroon and black woven silk. The fabric is a dark red cashmere, embroidered with gilt thread on a yellow silk core, the gilt foil wrapping around the core of yellow floss silk. The fabric is of a twill weave. India (probably Delhi or Agra), early 19th century.
