Summary
Seventeen tiger claws and a bunch of tiger's whiskers attached to a piece of red velvet. Presumably trophies from a tiger hunt shot while the 2nd Lord Clive and his wife were at Madras. Probably S.India c.1800.
Provenance
Said to be part of Lady Henrietta Clive's (1758-1830) natural history collection. Purchased by the National Trust with funding from The National Heritage Memorial Fund from John George Herbert, 8th Earl of Powis and Powis Estate Trustees in August 1999.
