Summary

Turned ivory clamp, the padded base covered in pale green silk. From 'Sadeli' mosaic fitted workbox, veneered with hexagonal mosaic of ivory, wood, tin, and stained horn on wooden carcass; sandalwood and blackwood linings; silver mounts. E.India (Vizagapatam), c.1800. See catalogue pg.85.

Provenance

Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
