Summary
Bronze sculpture, The Hindu God Vishnu, by Indian (South India - Tamilnadu) School, circa.1800. Small figure of the God Vishnu, holding the discus and conch in the upper hands and his lower left rests on the mace. His lower right displays a lotus bud. At the back of the pedestal is a detachable semi-circular halo surmounted by a leonine mask and supported by low pillars.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
