Summary
A shako of a French Warrant Officer from Mounted Rifles, France c.1914. Distinguished from the Hussars by the hunting horn badge. Made from a grey, fulled wool with a silver metal braid to the crown. The top of the crown is an oil cloth of smooth appearance. The peak is dark and very shiny oil cloth. The brim edged in a polished brass band. A chin strap of metal links backed with leather, which had one time had a shiny finish.
