Summary
A soldier's shako, Third French Hussars, France c.1914. This pattern was standard for all regiments and only the squadron was identifiable by the colour of the pompom. Made from blue, fulled, wool with white band around the upper section. Black patented leather top to the crown and a dark blue pom-pom. The peak is leather, edged with metal. A chin strap of metal links attached to a rosette at each side.
