Summary

Artificial limb. 'The Anglesey Leg', one of Lord Anglesey's artificial limbs c.1830. Patented by James Potts of Chelsea. Articulated, made from lime wood and vegetable tanned leather. The articulated wooden leg joined to a vegetable tanned leather thigh, with buff leather flap at the top of the thigh.

Provenance

One of the artificial legs made for Henry, 1st Marquess of Anglesey (1768-1854).
