Architectural drawing - A.W.N.Pugin. Scale elevation, section, frontal plan and masonry. Details are for coping and window head. Pen over pencil, grey wash and traces of red ink. Signed,l.r., and dated 1848, Chirk Castle alteration of Stables/1/4 size Verso;(AWNP);Stables (other hand);Chirk Castle. See D/201 and 248, and MS specification for this work (MS at Chirk).

Provenance

Item purchased by the National Trust at Sotheby’s auction in December 2012, included in a lot with AWN Pugin documents that were originally part of the 99 year loan agreement, returned to Guy Myddelton and sold on his behalf by Christies in June 2004.
