Summary
Canvas panel. An early 19thC. oak pole screen canvas panel of embroidery with a cross stitch background of climbing plants with multi- coloured leaves and flowers. Four central figures in petit point; on the left, a lady with long brown dress, flowing blue scarf, holding fruit in right hand; in centre, a goddess in a chariot on clouds armed with a shield and spear above a kneeling figure beating two drums, on right, a man in blue-skirted costume with flowing cloak blowing a trumpet with banner.
Provenance
Amongst chattels previously on loan to the National Trust from the Myddelton family. These chattels were purchased on behalf of the National Trust in the Christie's auction at Chirk on 21st June 2004.
