Summary
A mahogany chair, one of a set of six, comprising four side and two armchairs, English, early 19th century, the top rail incised with a shaped oblong, with overscrolled reeded top rail, the scrolled ends of the uprights applied with a roundel, the foresides of the uprights carved with leaves, the pierced horizontal splat formed of pierced and solid circles and reeded fan-forms, the reeded seat rails above turned, reeded and tapering front legs and square-section rear legs, the seat upholstered with striped black horsehair, horsehair stuffed.
