Human tooth. An upper right molar from an adult individual, showing extensive wear to the bite surface. The tooth shows a chip to its remaining enamel and is missing half of one of its roots suggesting it has been forcefully extracted from its socket.
Full description
Human tooth. An adult tooth possibly upper right first or second molar. The occlusal (bite) surface is well worn revealing the dentine beneath the cusps, suggesting heavy bite wear. The lingual root (root closest to tongue) has been broken and lost, presumably post mortem given the appearance of the break. There is also a significant chip in the enamel on the buccal (cheek) surface and numerous radiating fractures across the crown surface suggesting forceful extraction from the socket. A slight build up of calculus can be seen on the lingual surface.
