Summary
Sash window weight. One of two cast iron sash window weights; the top six cm chamfered and with a hole and a groove running up to the top. There is a rectangular depression stamped below the hole on one side with the number 7 in low relief. A piece of sash cord is knotted through the hole and wrapped around the weight. A white core is visible from the base, the walls of which are very ragged.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
