Summary
Embriodered card-holders. An eight pocket memory-minder for slips/cards. The fabric is cream silk satin weave and the embroidery is in silk dyed gold in two shades of green, cream, red pink beige, three shades of blue, coral, black, yellow, in French knots, chain stitch, straight stitch and speckling. On each of the pockets is an oval enclosing a flower spray with June, Sunday to Saturday at the head of one and 1784, Sunday to Saturday at the head of the other. The lining is in cream silk satin weave and the trimming is of metal (tarnished) over silk core braid (2cm.). Hand sewn. On the back of the second group is sewn-on mourning card and the words 'Mrs Charles Egerton, the signature not readable + '19' written in pencil Very fragile - see SCS Report dated 15.3.82
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
