Summary
Coin. A British Gloucester 1 shilling token silver coin. The obverse shows a shield with a design of bars and ball with laurel leaves either side, surrounded by the inscription GLOUCESTER TOKEN ONE SHILLING. The reverse shows the inscription PAYABLE AT / J.A.S WHALLEY'S / GLOUCESTER / & AT / N10 CHARLOTTE STREET / FITZROY SQUARE / LONDON. The edge is milled.

Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
