Summary
Scarf. An outdoor neckscarf, dated circa 1950, of black and white wool and angora. White warps and black wefts in 2/2 twill with an all over broken twill pattern having a repeat unit of four warps and four wefts. The fabric is raised and felted. Made up from one rectangle of fabric with a jacquard woven label stitched at the centre of one short end. Label 'JAEGER/WOOL and ANGORA/MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN'. Good condition apart from light soiling and wrinkling.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
