Summary
Evening dress suit jacket. Part of a dress suit comprising jacket, waistcoat and trousers, dated Dublin 1932. The fabric is of black worsted twill weave. It is trimmed with black silk unbalanced plain weave indented revers; fourteen buttons; a breast pocket; an inside breast pocket; and two tail pockets. The lining is of black satin, partly padded, and cream satin and has a tailors label marked 'John Sloane/17 Crow Street, Dublin'; and a hand written label 'Mr.D.O'Reilly 652 2/12/32. The suit is hand and machine sewn.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
