Summary
Mortar board. A mortar board (square cap). The fabric is of black wool raised nap. Trimmed with knotted purple silk cord; black cotton covered button; and petersham ribbon. Lined with black cotton, plain weave ridge; black cotton cord. Label is worn in part, handwritten 'Yorke'. Soiled from wear, nap worn.
