Summary
Top hat. A top hat dated late 19th century. Fabric of silk raised nap brushed 'beaver'. Trimmed with black silk petersham edging and black felt band. Lined with buff leather; buff silk twill weave top stitched; cream silk moire finish. Label 'Tress and Co. London. Made Expressly for/ Hart Davies and Son Chester'.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
