Summary
Christening robe. A baby's christening robe with a square neck and sleeveless with an embroidered 'v' panel to body. Embroidered panel from waist to hem, with gathered waist. One button; two ties at back. Pulled thread work and white embroidered stitches in flowers, daisies and foliage. Label attached: 'Christening robe worn by / Ph Yorke 1849 / Simon 1903 / Philip Scott 1905'.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
