Summary
Baby's gown. A white cotton, plain weave baby's long gown dated 1863 (circa). Embroidered with white cotton, satin, button hole and whipping, pulled and cut work with needle lace insertions. Designed with front panel and bodice; single fern fronds, flowers and leaves symetrically arranged with scalloped edges to frills and hem. Hand sewn. Hand written label '2 Robes worn by Mrs. L.M.Yorks (Scott)'. See label Mrs. L.M.Yorke (Scott).
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
