Summary
Sundial - A brass sundial on an octagonal sandstone pedestal. The octagonal dial bears the arms of John Meller and topographical pointers from Mexico to Peking, pierced gnomon. It has a bulbous pillar with a simply moulded base, inscribed 'S Saunders Fecit. Faster/ Watch/Slower....'.. and a steel rod to the base.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
