And so to bed...this chamber candlestick has a flat tray with a thumb piece; ideal for safely carrying a dripping wax candle up to bed. The conical extinguisher (alongside) would be used to extinguish the candle before sleeping
Summary
One of a pair of chamber candlesticks The circular trays with flat, chased rims, the baluster-shaped sockets on rising, open stems; flat drip-pans chased to match trays. Scroll handles with thumb pieces, and cone extinguishers hooked to thumb pieces.
