Summary
Seashell collection. A metal tray holding a collection of shells including ninety cowrie shells (Cypraeidae), a mussel shell (Mytilldae), four whelk shells and a quantity of smaller whelk shells, two scallop shells (Pectinidae), thirty six screw shells (Turritellidae), six wendletraps (Epitoniidae), a sea urchin, a royal comb venus, two cone shells (Conidae), dwarf periwinkles, oyster shells, tellins, periwinkles, fouteen tusk shells, and approx. sixty other shells and parts of shells.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
