Summary
Miniature curtains. A pair of curtains attached to a textile pelmet from the south window of the dolls' house Drawing Room. The cotton velvet of the pelmet and curtains is black and is trimmed with grey silk fringing; the curtains also having grey textured ribbon tie-backs. The curtains are embroidered with a design of flower sprays in satin stitch, with floss silk dyed red, tree shades of green, two shades of pink, peach, blue and yellow. Metal thread is also used, couched and in straight stitch. The lining is of glazed, grey twill weave cotton. The velvet pelmet and curtains are hand sewn. The upper pelmet is made from a piece of gold coloured braid. The curtains are said to have been made from Simon Yorke III's coming of age waistcoat.
