Summary
Case for a harp-lute - A fitted case of black stamped leather over wood, lined in carmine baize with jacquard tape. The harp-lute is by Edward Light, c.1810; black lacquered body decorated in gilt transfer with a scroll border, a sunburst centre, musical trophy and Prince of Wales feathers; the arch neck descending from a scroll. Moire silk ribbon. '469 Light, Foley Palce, London' inscribed at top of finger board.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
