Summary
Box or Casket. A blue leather-covered hinged casket inscribed 'PHILIP YORKE ESQRE ERDDIG 28th APRIL 1870'. The casket contains an illuminated manuscript inscribed 'For Philip Yorke of Erddig on the occasion of his attaining his majority April 28th 1870'; there are also two other documents listing subscribers to the funding of celebrations for his coming of age.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
