This glider is a replica of the Spirit of St Louis, flown by Charles Lindbergh from New York to Paris in 1927, a vital addition to any young boy’s toy collection.
Summary
Toy. A balsa wood and paper, silver painted model glider. The wings are inscribed 'Ryan NYP, Spirit of St.Louis, N-X- 211'. The glider is marked Made in Japan and the underside of the wings bear two flags.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
