Full description
Alarm gun designed to deter intruders or animals. Of the type patented by Spratt's in 1920. Of iron and designed to hang from a tree, the cartridge holder is set loose by a trip wire and falls down onto a metal plate and fires the cartridge. A one-piece breech rotates to the side to load the 12 bore blank cartridge. A rain-cover (missing) attached to a length of chain was provided.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
